This past weekend was National Streetpass Weekend where all over the country 3DS owners had a chance to meet other Mii’s from all over by visiting any Nintendo Zone location. Lucky for me one of my Nintendo Zone locations is in my local mall where Nintendo had setup their Holiday 2013 showcase with a chance for kids (young and old) to check out all the latest Nintendo goodies. So of course I had to check it out! Lucky for me Nintendo decided to reward my fastiduous loyalty and treat me with a visit from Pikachu too, and for some added excitement I got an extra treat for attending, a pre-order bonus (not in the US, of course) that they gave with Pokemon X & Y which was an awesome Pokeball game holder (I had totally drooled over it when I saw it online)! What more could I ask for… well I cant tell you, cause if I do my wish wont come true…

Giddy with joy I tell you I was last night at midnight as I walked into my local game store to replace my stolen 3DS XL! I figured that while all the other gamers would be getting their hands on the newly released XboxOne it would be a perfect time for my new pick up my new 3DS XL and a Link Between Worlds (of course)!!! I had been waiting torturously to do so since my machine was stolen over two weeks ago but what a better day than on release day for the latest story in the Zelda franchise, and I also couldn’t help but firmly state my love for Nintendo and my support for Sony’s newest console (picked that up on release day at midnight as well). Dont get me wrong I am sure I will have to eventually give in and purchase one along with the rest of the gamers out there but not yet, I require a little more substance first…
My day didn’t end there as I had to contact Nintendo and ask if there was any way that I could get all my games that I had purchased as well as my Ambassador Certificate back, and you know what, they said yes! The guy that I was talking to probably thought I was a little nuts but I didn’t care I was so happy. After giving him a few pieces of information such as police report and serial numbers (from my old machine and new) he said I would just have to wait about 24 hours and that I would have all my eShop stuff back. I have dealt with alot of customer service reps in the past two weeks or so dealing with the theft of my belongings and I must say Nintendo takes the cake, from their awesome hold music (The Legend of Zelda soundtrack), to their amazingly pleasant people, and their desire to help, I am one happy customer! It s a pretty bad feeling having your belongings stolen and they helped this girl feel very special, so Thank You Nintendo for making a bad situation seem alot better!

This Friday, the 22nd of November has been a long awaited day for alot of gamers out there! Could this day lead to the end result of the next-gen console wars, could the next installment in the Mario franchise help sell more WiiU’s, is the next Zelda gonna be just as good as the original…
Theses are all questions that I am sure are plaguing many minds as we enter the almost 24 hrs to go mark. I for one have already dived head first as last Friday I enjoyed tremendously walking out of my game store of choice just a few minutes after midnight with my glorious new PS4 in hand, I decided that this time around they were the one that I would support in this latest edition of console wars. My house has always been a multi console friendly home not really giving anyone any extra love than what was deserved (except Nintendo, they don’t count, they will have my love until my fingers are no longer able to grasp a controller!). But this time I have said no, no to the crappy marketing schemes, no to the massive drone-tastic consumerism, and no to a company that is paying its interns to try and sabotage the competition because they are afraid there product might not be as good. I don’t want my machine to be an all in wonder box, I don’t want it to be focused on social networking and I definitely don’t want it to be more concerned with TV than my TV is, what I want is a solid GAMING console! One that I can sit back and enjoy for hours until the little pinky on my left hand goes numb (that actually happens sometimes), if it can do all the extra stuff like stream Netflix and Hulu thats awesome too but its main function, the whole reason I pre-ordered and waited patiently in line at midnight was to play video games. Sometimes I wonder if in the zeal to stay relevant and keep up with the competition some of these companies have forgotten that one simple fact, from someone that owns a tablet too that is not where I want to spend hours gaming.
So for me, this Friday I will not be skipping to my car with an XBOXone in hand, I’ve already decided who won for me, but I tell you one thing… I will definitely be skipping to my car with the latest entry into the amazing world that is The Legend of Zelda! May the best machine win!

The Loss of a 3DS XL

Just forty eight hours ago someone decided that they should help themselves to my purse and all of the belongings that I have worked so hard for and painstakingly collected along my journeys in this life. They decided that there existence on this planet was so great that in less than a minute time span they could take what took me a far greater time to acquire! Inside this bag I had all my most portable possessions, as most of us do it contained my iPhone (brand new 5s no less that I waited in line for at the crack of dawn on release day), my new amazing limited edition Hello Kitty clutch, a custom made Pokemon makeup bag, and various other treasures, (namely some amazing trinkets I brought back from a recent trip to Tokyo, I was working on a collection of Evee’s). But the item that has left the biggest hole in my life is my Black 3DS XL! I have had a 3DS almost since day one (just a few months shy) and I lovingly covered my original one in a beautiful decal of a Hyrulian crest. When they announced the XL I was giddy with excitement but decided that I could wait until they released it in black and an eternity later my patience paid off and as a good little Nintendo girl I showed up at the store day one and came home with my beautiful new XL. Such was my love for my original “customized” 3DS that I am not ashamed to say I shed a little tear as the system transfer became complete and it took me a few days to be good with my new friend but quickly we became inseparable once again. Since the first day I held my original and last 3DS in my hands there has not been a day that has gone by that I have not had a smile brought to my face as I opened my machine and sat back and enjoyed the fabulous new/classic worlds I was being transported too, with one exception of a few days of surgery and recovery earlier this year. This machine that has been my friend through good and bad was lovingly folded into a black case that I annoyingly had to find the perfect one and finally did, with 7 of the most important games I can never leave home without (just to name a few, Pokemon, ACNL, Monster Hunter) and it was currently awaiting my final decision on which fabulous decal would grace its sexy black surface, until forty eight hours ago. I am generally a very good natured soul and I always give people the benefit of the doubt even through the darkest of scenarios, I prefer to see butterflies and rainbows than clouds and lightning but 2 days ago a crack appeared in my shiny candy coating…

For those of you that like myself that have been addicted to their Mii Plaza and have collected all the hats and puzzle pieces, there is great news… We got more!!!!! This morning when I woke up I was greeted with a blue light that always makes me squeal with delight because that little blue light means that you have gotten extra funness delivered with love via Spot Pass, some in better forms than others. So this morning the little blue light greeted me with OH so much goodness that the Nintendo gods have finally brought to the US (of course, Japan and Europe had it first).

First our Street Pass Mii Plaza got a makeover, not only do we have new areas and games to explore but the world around you looks different with new landscaping and even a fountain too! There are two new selections you can make, there is an exchange booth where you can go and exchange tickets that you have won on the new games for accessories that are exclusive to this feature, this has also changed the setting where you customize your hat to outfits (could that be that we get more than just hats…). Then there is now a games section where you can access the previous Find Mii 1 & 2, as well as your puzzle panels but now there is also a cute little bunny that pops out of four different little rabbit holes and down the rabbit holes you can get new games.

Mii Force
This is a side scrolling shooter that along with street passing gives you the power to defeat all the evil space forces. The more people you street pass with the more you can shoot your enemies and each color shirt has a different power ability very similar to Find Mii 1 & 2.

Flower Town
This is an adorable little sim-gardening game where you can cultivate, customize, and even breed your very own hybrid plant, along with your fellow streetpasseres of course.

Warrior’s Way
This is a strategy style game that involves a bit of luck because as you, the leader of a small yet magical realm of followers must fight your way through the evil hordes of your enemies, your army is only as strong as the plaza of the Mii’s you streerpass with. So with the fate of the world ahead of you, you better hope you have “Lady Luck” on your side.

Monster Manor
This is slightly reminiscent of the ghostly manor in NintendoLand except with a puzzle style of gameplay. You acquire puzzle pieces from the Mii’s you streetpass with which allows you to progress through the haunted manor and find treasure chests and all sorts of other goodness to discover the secrets that lay hidden in the dark before you.

So get ready, cuz the cute little bunny will lead you down the rabbit hole and leave you $15 poorer if you buy the set of four games, otherwise you would have to pay about $5 each. So thanks Nintendo for finding yet another way to take my money!

Recently Nintendo had its Annual General Meeting of Shareholder’s where they all had an opportunity to ask Nintendo President and CEO Satoru Iwata why their investments had not gained the financial success they had all expected and in some cases promised, interestingly Shigeru Miyamoto was also in attendance. During this meeting alot of topics were discussed from the unexpected Human Resources needs thats are involved in creating quality HD games, to their soft presence at this year’s E3, to what has been getting the most press so far, their financial situation. To me in a very typical and unsurprising statement Iwata made it clear that he had no intentions of laying off any of the current members of the Nintendo family just to make a temporary quick financial gain. I say this is unsurprising because I think through the years Iwata has proven himself as a leader that cares about more than just the financial gains to be had, afterall this man could walk away at any moment and live out the rest of his days as an exceptionally wealthy man, he has always spoken about the human factor involved in creating the worlds that you can enjoy on Nintendo platforms. For awhile now it has seemed that Nintendo is trying to step away from what and how all the other gaming companies are doing to market their systems an games. A little over a year ago you started seeing a big focus on Nintendo Directs and alot of key information was being given to consumers in this manner and to me that was a telltale sign that Nintendo was trying to change the way that their fans were getting their much anticipated nuggets of information, so their “soft” showing at E3 this year was no surprise to me and honestly I was totally ok with that! This industry is supposed to be about the games, Im not naive in thinking these companies don’t need to make a profit, of course they do. The more profit, the more games, and better games but is that what they all do, or is it the more profit the more or CEO and shareholders get??? Right now I think Nintendo is going through some growing pains and if their leader is willing to hang in their with all his employees then I think that just goes to show you the dedication and passion he has for the business, and to me that means they will come out of this alive. Their are so many speculators out their and dare I say “poop” talkers but at the end of the day any company that has been around as long as Nintendo will go through this and as long as they stay focused on the most important thing, the games (old favorites and new IP’s) then they will be ok. I want to support a company that has a soul and cares about its people because if it wasn’t for them they wouldnt have become who they are today, its not the people at the top that make a great company its the people on the ground, in the thick of it, the people that are giving their hearts, souls, and passion to what they do that makes them great and Iwata hasn’t forgotten that. So keep on Nintendo, show your people that you support them and give them a chance to return to the company that we have known and cared for all these years because for me a company that cares for its people also cares for its consumers and not just about the money to be made, a quick financial gain in this quarter will not always get you long term gain and thats what Nintendo is focused on, the long term. They are a brand, a family that wont always work well together but in the end, after all is said and done they will always manage to pull through. “This has all happened before, and it will all happen again”

Nintendo Haters

Seriously stop it!
Let me disclose this now, I love Nintendo, I am a fan (if you wanna be a jerk you can call me a fangirl). But seriously stop, stop all the hate! This is ridiculous, all the haters if they want to be honest with themselves at one point in their lives truly enjoyed a (and mostly likely more) Nintendo game. For most of you it was probably when you were younger and didn’t have all the poop attached to your brain that happens as you get older. The its not cool, it doesn’t have the latest tech, the all my friends aren’t playing it, seriously stop. Forget about how old you are or who is doing what and sit down and allow the magic that is Nintendo to envelope you in its soft fuzzy hands and take you away from all the hate. There is a reason why some of their franchises have stood the test of time and tech, why there are actual petitions out in the internet world calling out to Nintendo to give us more, there is a reason why people actually choose to play a 25 year old game again and again. The Nintendo magic is what I like to call it, if you give it a chance and honestly give yourself a chance I can guarantee that you will find yourself smiling and dare I say truly enjoying yourself! For all the haters out there, those of you that say Nintendo is just for kids, you are all wrong! Nintendo is Japanese, they are not afraid of the cute and cuddly, they are not afraid of the bright and colorful and most of all they are not afraid to dedicate their time passion and money into something that outsiders deem childlike. Give yourself a chance, forget all your misconceptions, forget all the stupid voices in your head and give yourself a chance to enjoy the Nintendo magic. Remember what it was like when you were a child and nothing else mattered except the world that had just opened itself before you, forget all the pop that comes from getting older, the worries, the drama and just STOP and enjoy! For those of you that are not motivated to give yourself a chance, well then just stop the hate and play any of the other two consoles that inspire you, that is why they are there, there is room for all! I mean seriously the time, thought, and effort that goes into some of the post, comments, and articles that I read from the Haters makes me wonder… Are you really deep down in the pit of your soul a fan and are too afraid/embarrassed to admit it? Shouldn’t a great game company be focused on making great content? Shouldn’t they be focused on bringing happiness to their followers? Do they make mistakes, yes, do they make those of us that are proud of our Nintendo love angry at times (angry enough to throw controllers across the room), yes, we are not above the anger. Afterall it is the human condition to get angry, to complain, to demand more! But to be the type of person that says they want them to die, that they should close their doors, who are you, what kind of “sad/strange little man” says these things. To be afraid of things that we dont understand is normal I guess, but to outright say “you suck” and never have given them a chance is wrong! So I challenge all you Nintendo haters, stop, take a moment, find a game that piques your interest and shut up, sit down, grab a GamePad, Wiimote, or 3DS, I promise you to will be drawn into the world of Nintendo magic and without even knowing you will realize that a smile has manged to creep up onto your face!
